ABOUT

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in 2010 and currently with the intake of 60 students. Its primary goal is to provide high-quality professional education to aspiring Engineers. The department boasts a team of experienced and dedicated faculty members who strive to impart comprehensive knowledge and keep students updated with the latest developments in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. To ensure practical learning, the department is equipped with eight state-of-the-art laboratories where students can gain hands-on experience and explore their innovative research and development ideas. The classrooms are also well-equipped with modern teaching aids such as projectors and smart boards to enhance the learning experience. Additionally, the faculty members actively utilize platforms like Moodle and other blended teaching learning aids to further enhance the quality of teaching and learning.

    PEO1:To provide the students with a strong foundation in the required sciences in order to pursue studies in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

    QUALITY POLICY :

    The Electronics and communication Engineering Department of Christ the King Engineering College Strives for imparting quality technical education by adopting best possible standards for continual improvement in skills with awareness of social responsibilities to meet expectations of Engineering students and Emerging Industry

    1. Electronic Devices and Circuits Laboratory

    This laboratory provides students with hands-on experience working with fundamental electronic components and circuits. Students gain practical knowledge of diodes, transistors, amplifiers, and other basic devices by constructing and analyzing small circuits. The lab is outfitted with advanced test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, and digital multimeter. These tools aid in circuit characterization and troubleshooting. The overall goal is to give students a strong foundation in electronics fundamentals including component operation, circuit design, and measurement techniques.



    2. Digital Electronics Laboratory


    This lab teaches students the fundamentals of digital electronics by providing hands-on experience with basic electronic components and hardware. Students complete experiments with logic gates, multiplexers, decoders, flip-flops, counters, and more to gain practical knowledge of basic digital network operations. Standard trainer kits and IC testers are available at each lab station. Students also use Hardware Description Languages like VHDL and Verilog extensively to design, simulate, and verify digital circuits.


    3. Linear Integrated Circuits Laboratory


    This Laboratory is intends to meet the curriculum needs by experimenting with Operational amplifiers, Multivibrators, Schmitt trigger, Instrumentation Amplifier, Filters, PLL applications and Oscillators. The experiments are designed and analysed using Operational Amplifiers, Timer IC and simulated using PSPICE software.


    4. Microprocessor and Microcontroller Laboratory


    This Laboratory is equipped with Microprocessor Trainer kits based on INTEL 8085, 8086 and Microcontroller kits based on INTEL 8051, 8059 along with interfacing peripheral devices such as 8279, 8251 and 8253. Added to this, Microprocessor based Speed control of Motors, PC based Temperature Control system, Data Acquisition system with software facilities has been established and Cross Assembler experiments are carried out.


    5. Digital Signal Processing Laboratory


    Digital Signal Processing Laboratory (DSP) is concerned with the representation of signals as a sequence of numbers and the operations carried out on the signals to extract specific information contained in them. The objective of the laboratory is to enable the students to simulate and experiment with digital signals and systems. Students can implement digital signal processing algorithms using different computational platforms and DSP tools which enhance the practical exposures in signal processing.


    6. Communication System Laboratory


    The recent communication techniques can be demonstrated in this laboratory using various Communication Kits like Pulse Code Modulation kit, Delta Modulation kit, AM , FM Modulation and Demodulation kits, Time Division Multiplexing kit and Sampling kit. This laboratory enriches the fundamentals related to Analog and Digital Communication Systems. The Performance of Communication Systems are analysed using MATLAB Simulation software.


    7. Computer Networks Laboratory


    The Computer Networks laboratory is well equipped with the latest PCs. Establishing a Wired Network, Wireless Network and Communication between nodes are carried out using Network Simulation software in order to experience the real time scenario. This software helps to study various the protocols such as Ethernet LAN, Token bus, Token Ring, Stop and Wait and Go Back-N, etc.


    8. VLSI Design Laboratory


    VLSI Design Laboratory was established with latest FPGA kits and Cadence Software to support research in VLSI systems, and to enhance engineering education in the field of VLSI design and thus increase the number of graduates with experience in this area for the growing microelectronics industry. This Laboratory provides hands-on design capabilities for Analog, Digital and Mixed Signal IC/ ASIC design up to 45 nanometer scale.


    9. Embedded systems Laboratory


    This laboratory provides hands-on experiences and integrative projects from fundamental digital logic design to emerging embedded computing system design and to gain practical experience in automation field and ZIGBEE based wireless communication. It is equipped with all necessary Equipments for design, implementation and testing of applications for embedded systems based on modern processors.
